AEG Presents Upgrades Its Festival Apps With LiveStyled

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time

2018 saw a record year in revenue at the Barclaycard presents British Summer Time festival, with ticket upgrades through the app contributing heavily towards this.

London, July 17th, 2018 –​ AEG Presents partnered with LiveStyled to provide the official mobile apps for the ‘All Points East’ and ‘Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park’ (BST) festivals in London during May & July this year.

The 3-year deal marks a new chapter in the relationship between Anschutz Entertainment Group and LiveStyled, which already covers many of Europe’s major arenas including The O2, London. The apps for both events, built on the LiveStyled platform, following extensive workshopping with the AEG Presents team, provided all of the features fans expect from a festival app such as a personal schedule builder, site maps, artist playlists and sponsorship activations.

But the most striking new feature was the ability for festival-goers to upgrade their tickets last-minute, with a range of premium experiences being made available exclusively through the apps shortly before and during the events. This gave thousands of fans the opportunity to enter the festival site early or access VIP areas and opened up a new revenue stream for AEG Presents.

In our first year at All Points East, we were able to successfully upgrade a large number of customers to VIP on the day, opening up a powerful new revenue stream for the festival and giving us good insight into customer movement around site.

“The app really came in to its own at BST with a high percentage of the audience downloading. We took merchandise pre-orders through the app and the number of people choosing to upgrade their experience exceeded expectations. We’re now looking on to next year’s festivals and the improvements that we can bring to the apps, such as click and collect on site for Food & Beverage”.

All Points East enabled visitors to upgrade General Admission to VIP for £30. This gave fans the chance to get in quicker with VIP entrance queues, hang out in the large VIP area behind the main stage with exclusive bars and food stalls, and to take advantage of premium bathrooms. Upgrades were offered in-app via push messages delivered in the days running up to the event, and via geo-fenced push messages which people received on their approach the festival site on event days.

Barclaycard presents British Summer Time offered a wider range of upgrade products, such as ‘Primary Entry’. This enabled fans to get on-site an hour earlier than other GA ticket holders, giving them the benefit of pitching their spots with the best views of the stage. At the premium end, a ‘Terrace Upgrade’ offered the chance to purchase seats on a grandstand with views across the main stage.
